Papel Picado
Papel Picado
Papel picado literally means punched or perforated paper. It is a traditional, romantic Mexican art form of very detailed hand- cut paper that has been used in Mexican weddings for hundreds of years. Papel picado is made into white or colorful banners that are customized and personalized for the bride and groom. The banners are strung across the ceremony or reception area for a festive, fun look and can be used in other areas of wedding styling. Papel picado can be seen decorating invitations, cakes, or as small flags placed in containers as part of a tablescape.
